There was this old boy 

Had him a dream

Starting writing songs 

For anyone who would listen to him sing

Should have quit a million times 

But he stayed in the fight 

What took over a decade seemed to happen overnight

Every day is just amazing 

To watch a dreamer catch 

That shooting star that they've been chasing

It just has to be from above 

When you think that your unlovable is when you find out that you're loved 

And the sinners that need saving end up saved

All his buddies said don’t even waste your time

Cause you're  bottom shelf whisky 

That girl there she's fine wine 

But he bought her a beer 

That led to toasting with champagne 

Cause just this last October she took his last name

Then one Sunday morning 

Half asleep out in the crowd 

He finally heard the sermon 

That turned his life around 

The preacher put in the water to wash away his sin

He wasn’t the man he was before cause he was born again
